Rarity

In 1954, Eddie Harlis designed the ST 664 chair model for the Thonet company.

We are pleased to be able to offer you this first design. It is the version with a wooden frame. The chair comes from the first generation and is therefore museum-quality.

The chair consists of a piece of plywood and a wooden frame. It looks futuristic (1954!), but is still simple.

The seat shell has the shape of a circle from the front and a triangle from the side. It has two openings at the back bottom to deform, ventilate and use as a handle.

Eddie Harlis was born in Osnabrück in 1928. After an apprenticeship as a carpenter, he studied at the Werkkunstschule Hildesheim. From 1953 he worked as an interior architect and designer. In 1954, he designed the ST 664 chair for the Thonet brothers in Frankenberg.

This is the original, which Thonet re-edited.
With Thonet marking on the underside.
