A real museum rarity from the development history of the SE 68 by Egon Eiermann from Wilde+Spieth is for sale here.

The model shown here is a very early version. As this chair still bears the original Wilde+Spieth logo (oak leaf), I assume that it was manufactured around 1951. Perhaps even earlier. It is possible that the chair was manufactured before it was ready for series production.

The previous owner was a wealthy captain from Bremen.

The original condition is particularly noteworthy here. There are paint abrasions on the surfaces and rust on the steel tube of the frame. The original rubber buffers are brittle.

The SE 68 chair was designed by Egon Eiermann for Wilde+Spieth. Eiermann began developing tubular steel chairs in 1951. His first chair with a tubular steel frame was an orchestra chair.
