It's hard to believe, but the Rainbelle umbrella was developed as a disposable product. The idea was this: Ladies and girls should be able to walk dry-headed from the shopping mall to their car. (Note: we are in the USA of the 1950s).

The German architect Ferdinand Kramer designed it in 1948 during his emigration to the United States as a simple, plastic-coated, disposable paper umbrella.

The development of the production machine took several years. Ferdinand Kramer's goal was to produce the umbrella from a single sheet of paper. The folding of the paper is an optical and technical masterpiece. We especially appreciate the umbrella because of its sophisticated and demanding construction.

The umbrellas were produced in the 1950s in children's and adult sizes. Our umbrella is the smaller version: Rainbelle Junior. The paper umbrella is black and has a yellow wooden handle. The handle loop and the ring to close the umbrella is completely preserved.

The handle shows the following marking:
Rainbelle JUNIOR, U.S AND FORE. PAT. PEND., MADE IN L.I.C 1 N.Y. U.S.A.

Completely preserved, museum quality.

The umbrella shown in red in the picture is not available.
