A real museum rarity from the development history of the SE 68 by Egon Eiermann from Wilde+Spieth is for sale here:

The model shown here is a prototype from around 1950, in which the seat is still attached with a screw. In addition, there are glued-on rubbers (à la Arne Jacobsen with his chair 3100) and a wooden disc inserted in the middle to fix the seat.

We found the chair near Karlsruhe. Egon Eiermann lived and worked in Karlsruhe. Unfortunately, nothing more is known about the origin of the chair. In any case, it is a real piece of design history!

Particularly worthy of mention here is the good original condition. The wooden surfaces show a beautiful veneer pattern. The steel is well preserved.

The SE 68 chair is a design by Egon Eiermann for Wilde+Spieth. Eiermann began developing tubular steel chairs in 1951. His first chair with a tubular steel frame was an orchestra chair.
