There is furniture that immediately grabs you - and this Eddie Harlis armchair for Thonet is definitely one of them. The first time I saw it, I knew it was the one!

I am an absolute fan of black square tubular steel, and here it is at its most beautiful. No frills, no hide-and-seek - all the structural parts are visible and become the design.
What particularly fascinates me is the natural core leather. It feels authentic, lives with time and becomes ever more beautiful. Combined with the clear, minimal tubular steel frame, the result is something that is both expressive and restrained at the same time.

Eddie Harlis was born in Osnabrück in 1928. After completing an apprenticeship as a carpenter, he studied at the Werkkunstschule Hildesheim. From 1953, he worked as an interior architect and designer. In 1954, he designed the ST 664 chair for the Thonet brothers in Frankenberg.

This is the original from the design period.

Several chairs are available. One is marked with the original Thonet label on the underside.
